Simulating quantum field theories on quantum computers
Stephen Jordan, Microsoft
In this seminar I will discuss quantum algorithms for simulating scattering processes in quantum field theories. I will not attempt to review all work in the field but rather to describe the approach I have explored with my research group at the University of Maryland. I will focus on the asymptotic complexity of quantum algorithms running on fault-tolerant quantum computers. In particular, I will discuss various methods for preparing the initial states to be used in the simulations.
